Thayer-Forbes takes note of another composition during this period:
On April 19, 1822, the firm of Cappi and Diabelli announced their publication of Schubert’s variations on a French song for pianoforte, four hands, which was “dedicated to Herr Ludwig van Beethoven by his Worshipper and Admirer Franz Schubert.” (p. 805)
In the spring of 1822, Beethoven was visited by a French violinist named Alexandre Boucher bearing a letter of introduction from Goethe. Beethoven wrote him a souvenir duet for two violins dated 29 April 1822. Just seven measures long, the piece is catalogued as WoO 34.
