The “Complete” Beethoven


Beethoven composed the three Opus 1 Piano Trios in sequence, progressively becoming more skilled, bolder and more confident. Neither Mozart nor Haydn had done anything as significant with Piano Trios, so this was Beethoven’s way of staking out a corner of the chamber music world.
